We Are Home Once Again!

January 28, 2007
Sunday

Robert had an appointment with his surgeon, Dr. Oxford Friday in Dallas. Dr. Oxford removed all Roberts’s sutures and the last 2 drains he had in. Robert felt like a free man and was so happy to get all that out. Dr. Oxford showed us pictures of the mass he removed from Robert’s neck and we both could not believe how big it was. I am going to try and see if he can email me the pictures and will post them if they are not too graphic. The mass stretched out on a table was about 12 inches long and about 4 inches wide and 1 and ½ inches thick. Dr. Oxford said he removed 38 lymph nodes in Robert’s neck with 8 being cancerous. Sandi said that is probably why the nurse did not give us any updates during surgery, she was way too busy charting. We do not see Dr. Oxford again until 6 weeks after the chemotherapy and Radiation are completed. Then we will see him every 6 weeks for one year and then every 2 to 3 months for another year. Dr. Oxford said this type cancer is prone to come back so he is going to keep a close eye on Robert.

We spent the weekend with Sandi and Morgan, Mick was working in Oklahoma, and sorry we missed you Mick. We met Lisa and William for dinner Thursday nite and then went to eat with Al and Beverly Saturday nite. Thanks so much to yall for the wonderful company and good meals. Robert said he is very thankful for the opportunity just to be able to go out to eat. Robert worked on Sandi’s weights this weekend and is still doing better than expected. The doctor said he may not be able to raise his left arm to shoulder level for about 6 to 9 months and he is nearly back to raising his arm as high as he could before the surgery. It’s just amazing!!! Oh yeah I was forced to ride Sandi’s stationary bike last nite and I rode 3.65 miles in 31 minutes. Yeah Judy… Sandi and Robert were being slouchers and I showed them up….. Robert wants you all to know that he credits all his fast healing and positive attitude to everyone’s’ prayers and God’s strength. We are going to try to ride our 4 Wheelers before Robert starts chemo Thursday. We will post some new pictures. Happy Trails to you all!!!

Hey Roberto!!!
Love the do-rag! Looks good. Sure did enjoy having ya'll here this weekend. Wish you could stay longer but it's best that Robert get home in case Mickster has a stomach virus or something. And to clarify the "sloucher" accusations..."whatever"!!! I did my usual walking on my treadmill for 30 min and then used my free weights. Robert spent 30 min with us using the free weights on his arms and legs! He really is doing good and I was excited to see how much he was able to lift and the range of motion he was able to put his arms through.
So, no slouching here!! Even when it came time to eat peach cobbler and ice cream. Huh Robert?? We did good...Judy Judy was the sloucher!!! :) ha ha ha
love ya'll!!
Have fun riding this week and hope we can get up soon to ride with you!

Hey Roberto,

I agree with Sandi..the do rag looks good and it looks like you need a side of Harley Davidson to go with your 4 wheelers..
Judy Judy.. I am proud of you for working out at Sandi's...did you feel good when you were done?? I bet Robert and Sandi ate all the cobbler while you worked out:)
Glad to see you guys having fun...
Love Ya'll Lisa

Well I didn't think anyone could look as cool as my Daddy in a do-rag but I guess you proved me wrong. Nice scars too...you and Daddy will have to compare when this is all over! I believe you just might beat him! Glad to hear you are recovering so well and so quickly! Have a great ride this week...something like this will really make you look around appreciate God's wonderful creations & nature even more. Take it all in! Every breath is a gift! Love you both!

Robert, My dad just called and asked about you. He was amazed when I told him how well you are doing and how good your attitude is. He wanted me to tell you both "hi" and to let you know he's thinking about you both. (I don't think he would be able to get on the blog and post a comment.)

Hi Goodies!
Glad Roberto is doing so well! Your good attitude has really helped your recovery! I think Tammy Jo said it best, something like what you are going through really does change the way you look at life & everything around you for the good. It's all a gift from God & you can just marvel in it. Enjoy your ride! We love you & are praying for you.

Robert, I am glad to read that you are doing very well. I am keeping Raymond and Jonathan posted on your postings here. Just think, you and Raymond will have the same do---nothing on top! Be sure and stop by when you make it to Tyler.

Hey Robert and Judy,
Glad to see the new photo. Yes, the do-rag is a great style on you. I am so glad to hear God is answering our prayers by showering you in His perfect peace amoung your storm. Keep laying in His arms and HE WILL CARRY YOU THROUGH THIS. You are truly a miracle and will find that God will bring a miracle healing, JUST BELIEVE and give THANKS in advance. I am so proud of both of you for how you are handling this. Wow, I know it is easier said than done. Robert keep up the positive attitude. Don't let the chemo and radiation beat up your spirit. I will keep you in my daily prayers. Find a favorite place in your mind to escape too when things get rough... a favorite trail, a place on the lake, whatever your favorite place is...hold on to it and travel there in your mind when chemo gets rough. Trust me this vision and sanctuary will get you through. I will continue to pray for God's peace and healing to cover you. Wish I could be there in person. I am there with you in spirit. I hope you can feel it. Call me anytime you need special pray. Love you both, Terri
Carlos and Aleisha are cheering for you and sending their love too.
