Hallelujah Robert Has Rung the Bell!!

Ringing the Bells
Proud Graduate
No More Mask

Friday

Well treatments are over!! Robert had his last radiation treatment Wednesday. At Paris Cancer Treatment Center they have a bell you ring after your last treatment. Robert told Dr. Kerley when he saw him Monday that he better be sure and wear his ear plugs because he was going to get down on that bell. And let me tell you he did, it was so good to see him ringing that bell, they heard the bell all over the building. Dr. Kerley told Robert he would continue to get worse before he gets better. The radiation will continue to burn him. The radiation burns from the inside out. When the doctors and staff would tell Robert he would have pain, they were not stretching the truth. Robert is in constant pain now. As you could tell by the previous pictures Robert’s face is really burned. He does not complain about his face, he just complains about the inside of his mouth and throat. I think Robert is a little discouraged now, he was thinking when he woke up Thursday morning he would already feel better. He had hopes of being able to go back to work by his birthday which is April 18th. Robert still has a long recovery and I hope and pray God gives him the strength to stay positive and see the light at the end of the tunnel. We can not tell you how much your comments have helped us and please continue to let Robert hear from each and everyone. It helps more than you realize. Robert does not talk much, probably does not say more than 10 words a day, but looks forward to reading the blog. If anyone wants to send Robert a personal email and does not feel comfortable leaving comments on the blog please do so. You can email him at
judygood@pine-net.com. Robert got his first ecard from Sandi the other day and thought that was the coolest thing. Thanks again for your prayers and thoughts.

Hi folks! Hang in there Robert-you've been through so much and your pain will go away. I miss you two and hope to see you soon. Judy, make sure that #$@#$% hat is nowhere to be seen for Martinsville (the worst race track on the circuit). Thoughts and prayers for you both, as always. Love ya!

Roberto!!!
Whatcha do'n? Guess what? The lake...is at OR above normal level. NOT KIDDING! It is almost touching the bottom or our decks at the lake. We have to keep raising the jetski's to keep them from floating off the lifts. That is soooo cool. I can't wait for you to get better so you can come see us and enjoy being out on the lake again. Found a big water snake the other day too. I was so excited. It went off into the water and since it was so cold....it just sat there. It hardly moved, so I got a good look at it before Rosco found it and pounced right on top of it and off it went. Stupid dog! He nearly killed himself swimming in circles looking for it.
I can't get over your mask you had to wear to treatments. You tried to explain it but I never realized it was so big and most likely very, very uncomfortable. Thank goodness...it's best use now will be to scare the daylights out of little kids at Halloween! :)
Well, just wanted to say hi and check on you. Mickster is here and sends his regards. Hope your having a good day...
hugs and kisses!

And I thought the feeling of finishing up final exams my senior year (many years ago) was an awesome feeling! It's amazing what you can get through one minute, one hour, one day at a time...and accompanied by thousands of prayers!
I hope to get to meet you soon; despite what Sandy says, I know you've got to be pertier in person! ;)
Way to go!

Hey Guys, Well you have had the last treatment behind for days now. We celebrated your last day of treatment with prayers of Thanksgiving to God for taking you through all the way to the end of the treatment. Yeah!!! You both made it with flying colors and with a great attitude in place for all of us to admire and learn from. I hope each day brings renewed health and spirit. I am so very proud of both of you. I can not even imagine all you have been through. God bless and keep you as you heal and celebrate this new gift of life.
Love you both, Terri
